Customisable data model
CONVERIS allows small and isolated solutions that can be stepwise enhanced towards a comprehensive research database which is completely integrated in the organisation’s IT infrastructure.
The collected digital footprints are arranged in different Information Object Types (e.g. persons, projects, organisations or thematic areas) and described with attributes. If not all required Information Object Types or attributes are available in external sources, they can be added in CONVERIS and easily updated via a user interface.
The created Information Object Types can in CONVERIS not only be enhanced with further attributes at any time, but can furthermore be flexibly related to each other. It is hence possible to e.g. relate persons to projects, projects to contracts, publications to projects, publications to thematic areas or persons to organisations.
In that way, it is possible to create even with rather few attributes a net of information and relations and hence identify collaborations, networks and strong thematic areas. If needed, this net can be enhanced with further Information Objects Types as well as corresponding attributes at any time.
Therefore, CONVERIS allows to start with a rather small application in order to verify that the user accept the system and its processes. Larger solutions with further modules and information can be initiated as soon as system and processes have been anchored properly.
